Eindhoven Airport, the largest regional airport in the Netherlands, serves over 1.5 million passengers a year. At Eindhoven Airport Net Display Systems provided an airport-wide display solution which covers all areas of the terminal building.
PADS is used as an application for displaying flight information at the arrival/departure area, check-in counters, security area, gate area and baggage belt area of the new terminal building opened in 2005. For this purpose circa 50 LCD displays are used, with a mixture of screens using both landscape and portrait orientation. Along with a complete FIDS (Flight Information Display System) Net Display Systems also delivered a display solution for the meeting rooms at the airport, a key signage solution showing information about products and pricing for all restaurant facilities at the airport as well as a complete digital advertising solution.
For displaying accurate flight information on a real-time basis the standard unequalled database connectivity features of the PADS software are used. These features enable the system to have an automatic interface to the central database for flight information at the airport. This interface has been set up with just a couple of mouse clicks and without the need for any programming or customization. As a result when flight schedules are updated by the control tower personnel or airport operators the PADS system will automatically detect these changes and have them displayed on the screens within a couple of seconds.
