To be able to work with the PADS software you need to have the right PADS licenses.
For PADS Professional you need a combination of the following licenses:
- PADS Manager license
Required for the PADS Manager application or the PADS Manager SDK.
- PADS Viewer license
Required for the PADS Viewer application or the PADS Viewer SDK.
- PADS Desktop Viewer license
Required for the PADS Desktop Viewer application.
- PADS Agent license
Required for the PADS Agent application or PADS Agent SDK.
The license model of PADS is based on simultaneous users. This means that you are allowed to install the PADS application an unlimited number of times without separate licenses being required. You don’t need more licenses than the maximum number of users that simultaneously will use the application.
For PADS Standalone you need a general PADS Standalone license.
Example
A company likes to have a digital signage solution to inform its personnel. For this 45 displays will be placed across the entire company campus. Every single display must be able to be fed with unique content. Beside that another 10 foreign branch offices will be equipped with 2 displays each. These screens will be connected over the Internet and as such be part of the same system.
Because the company also likes to inform its employees at their workplace information will be shown on the displays of all 500 employees as well using a screen saver application.
Management of the system will take place from 3 separate workplaces. However there will never be more than 2 employees simultaneously logged on to the system.
The system administrator must be able to monitor the system and if necessary do remote management.
Finally a tailor made solution is developed for this company making the system to automatically display an evacuation message on the screen in case of an emergency situation.
Solution for this customer
To be able to uniquely address all 45 displays every display is connected to a PC running the PADS Viewer application. So for this 45 PADS Viewer licenses are required. Beside that another (10x2=) 20 PADS Viewer licenses are required for the foreign branch offices.
Because one doesn’t know exactly how many employees will be logged on at their workplace simultaneously one decides to purchase a PADS Desktop Viewer license for all 500 employees.
To manage the system employees can use the PADS Manager application. Because there will never be more than 2 employees simultaneously using the system 2 PADS Manager licenses will be sufficient.
For the system administrator 1 PADS Agent license is purchased.
For emergency situations an automatic interface with the alarming system is developed using the PADS Manager SDK. Because this application must be available non-stop it requires a separate PADS Manager license.
Summarizing the total number of PADS licenses for this customer looks as follows:
- 3x PADS Manager license
- 65x PADS Viewer license
- 500x PADS Desktop Viewer license
- 1x PADS Agent license
