PADS back to school

Building Schools for the Future (BSF) is the biggest-ever school buildings investment program in the UK. Their aim is to rebuild or renew nearly every secondary school in Great Britain. PADS(Public Area Display Systems), a Net Display Systems product, plays a vital role in the communication between pupils and staff.

Pudsey Grangefield School (PGS), one of the flagships of this enormous project, has chosen the PADS software as their digital signage solution.

The primary requirement for the system was that it needed to be able to communicate up to the minute timetable information to pupils and to staff. The secondary requirement was the ability to showcase students work, advertise events, and show ‘live’ broadcast from within the school.

Anders + Kern, NDS’s UK partner has supplied and integrated the PADS Professional digital signage system in collaboration with Matrix Display. The system consists of 37 public displays installed across the school. These screens are divided into 10 independent content zones allowing the school to schedule content to each of the 10 zones.A quite unique aspect to the project was that the school wanted to be able to record TV content from terrestrial (Freeview) and satellite. Recordings needed to be accessible from the teachers PC so that they could be displayed within classes on their interactive whiteboards. With PADS these recordings can also be viewed on any of the 37 public display screens.

The school is delighted with the PADS digital signage system and are already looking to expand it. One of the reasons they chose to use PADS was its scalability.
